Academic Programs
Saint Leos LINK (Learning Interdisciplinary Knowledge) general education program ensures that all graduates have a solid grounding in theories, issues, and knowledge to prepare them for successful careers and graduate work. The program develops the skills that are the foundation of a liberal arts education and that todays employers demand. Students learn to communicate effectively; function at a high level, both alone and as a part of a team; develop a general knowledge base in many different areas; and analyze and solve problems effectively.
Students complete foundation courses of core requirements (writing, computer literacy, math, and wellness), Perspectives courses (liberal arts, fine arts, humanities, and physical, social, and behavioral sciences), and a senior capstone course that connects all prior course work in the major and leads to research and independent projects demonstrating mastery of the field.
Saint Leo has an academic skills program to assist first-year students in their adjustment to university life. Included in this program are freshman studies, tutoring, and advising. All first-year students at Saint Leo are assigned faculty advisers, who act as mentors from the first day that the student arrives on campus through the time when the student selects a major.
Students who demonstrate course mastery for any course listed in the catalog have the opportunity to receive up to 40 hours of credit through examination. Detailed information about credit by examination is available through the Registrars Office.
Most students at Saint Leo earn the credits needed for their bachelors degree through a four-year program of study. All major programs require a 2.0 minimum grade point average for graduation.
Off-Campus Programs
