Get a New Wardrobe Without Spending a Dime By Lauren Bayne Anderson
So, youre tired of your old clothes but you cant afford to hit the mall. Or maybe you just want to get rid of some stuff to make a buck. It happens to the best of us. Heres how to get a new wardrobe without spending your hard earned cash.
- Organize a clothing swap. This is a great excuse for a party. Call up a group of people, and have them bring all of their unwanted clothing and accessorieseverything from clothes and coats, to shoes, hats and bags. The party begins when people swap their old stuff for new stuff. The more people invited the bigger the selection. Any unwanted items to go charity. In the end, youve cleaned out your closet, got a new wardrobe and donated to charity in one fair swoop.
- Hawk your stuff. One mans trash is anothers treasure. Sell your stuff on e-bay or get a group of people together and have a dorm sale (like a yard sale, but, well you get the picture). You can also sell your stuff to consignment shopssome will let you put the amount toward something else in the store. Which brings us to our next point
- Consignment Shops. Some specialize in designer digs. Theyre a great way to pick up vintage clothes and accessoriesand even a few items from last season for a few bucks a pop. The upsideyou probably wont see anyone else walking around campus in your clothes.
- Stake out stores with lenient return or exchange policies. Some stores take anything back for full returns or exchanges without a receipt. Go door to door in the dorm, and collect unwanted clothes that originally came from your store and trade it in for new digs. Heywe dont endorse the ideas, just offer them up!
- Bag, Borrow or Steal. Now a days you can actually rent the stuff you cant afford. To rent a handbag, go to http://www.bagborroworsteal.com.
- Or, just borrow. Its old fashioned, and you dont get to keep the clothes, but youre wearing something different and thats what counts. If you live in a dorm or a fraternity/sorority house, the options are endless.
