July 25, 2008 -- After a strenuous deliberating process, Tony Pintarelli, creator of the FastWeb Stuck in the (Financial) Middle Scholarship was able to select a winner! Cassie Grymes, an upcoming senior at The University of Texas at Dallas, was selected as the scholarship's $4,000 winner.
Cassie, a Literary Studies major, with Secondary Education certification, plans to graduate with her degree in the Spring of 2009. Her goal and plan is to become a high school English teacher.
"It is what I have wanted to do my entire life, and as a Junior I am so close, yet so far. My financial situation makes me the furthest," Cassie said.
Cassie has been given the tough task of funding her education on her own, yet she is determined to not let that stand in the way of her dreams. And although her loans have piled up throughout her collegiate years, she remains focused.
When asked what winning this scholarship ultimately means to her, she ecstatically replied, "Winning the FastWeb student created Stuck in the (Financial) Middle Scholarship felt like the world was being lifted from my shoulders. I will be able to complete my education without having to take out any more student loans! Thank you Fastweb!"
