SAINT ANSELM COLLEGE
Manchester, New Hampshire
The College
Saint Anselm is a small liberal arts college in the hills of Southern New Hampshire, less than an hour north of Boston. Founded in 1889 by the Catholic Order of Saint Benedict, it maintains the family spirit that is characteristic of a Benedictine institution. By choosing to remain small (fewer than 2,000 students), it provides a friendly and supportive environment for students of all backgrounds and faiths and allows for close interaction between students and faculty members. The College has earned a reputation for high academic standards. It prides itself on offering a challenging intellectual environment while encouraging the students intellectual, social, spiritual, and physical development. Saint Anselm is also well known for its strong commitment to community service and civic engagement. A large percentage of students volunteer on campus and in the community, gaining valuable work and leadership experience.
All Saint Anselm College students pursue specialized major courses of study in such areas as liberal arts, business, the sciences, nursing, and preprofessional preparation. A curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, communication, research, and analysis skills leads to strong placement in graduate and professional schools. The Colleges primary goal, however, is to offer an educational experience that produces well-rounded graduates with a creative and open-minded spirit.
The beauty of Saint Anselm Colleges 400-acre campus changes with the seasons. Buildings surrounding the quad range from original ivy-covered brick to contemporary architecture, and the grounds include a church and an abbey that is home to 30 monks. In addition to student housing, administration, and academic facilities, the campus includes a multipurpose activities center; Davison Hall dining commons; Stoutenburgh Gymnasium, home of Saint Anselm varsity athletics; the new Thomas F. Sullivan hockey arena; and Cushing Student Center, which houses academic and career counseling offices, student organizations, health services, and an academic resource center. A short drive away is a 100-acre tract used for retreats and environmental study and research.
Saint Anselm College has students from twenty-eight states and thirteen countries, more than 86 percent of whom live on campus in traditional dormitories and modern apartments. The list of more than eighty clubs and organizations that match the students diverse interests is constantly evolving and includes music, community service, theater, outdoor recreation, debating, prelaw and premedicine, and a local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Intercollegiate sports are offered for men in baseball, basketball, crosscountry, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, skiing, soccer, and tennis. For women, teams are organized in basketball, crosscountry, field hockey, lacrosse, skiing, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. There are nearly twenty club sports, including cheerleading, cycling, ice skating, and rugby.

Transfer and international students are welcome to apply. The same general admission procedures are required, along with at least a C average in all transferable courses and, for international students, a satisfactory score on the TOEFL.
