The University and Its Mission

Argosy University is a private institution of higher education dedicated to providing high-quality professional educational programs at doctoral, masters, baccalaureate, and associate degree levels, as well as continuing education to individuals who seek to advance their professional and personal lives. The University emphasizes programs in the behavioral sciences, business, education, and the health-care professions. A limited number of preprofessional programs and general education offerings are provided to permit students to prepare for entry into these professional fields. The programs of Argosy University are designed to instill the knowledge, skills, and ethical values of professional practice and to foster values of social responsibility in a supportive, learning-centered environment of mutual respect and professional excellence.

Argosy University/Twin Cities is part of Argosy University, a national university made up of thirteen campuses. Argosys staff and practitioner-oriented faculty members believe that a high-quality education is a key component of a successful career. The Argosy University/Twin Cities campus offers an educational environment that meets the needs of busy individuals with convenient, flexible class schedules that enable them to earn their degrees while fulfilling other responsibilities.

The Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology Degree Program is accredited through the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (1931 North Meachum Road, Suite 100, Schaumburg, Illinois 60173; telephone: 847-925-8070).

Academic Programs

The programs at Argosy University/Twin Cities are designed to develop skills in high-demand fields and to provide students with industry-relevant instruction from experienced professors. Since 1961, nearly 6,000 students have successfully completed the health science programs and joined the health-care community as practicing health-care and veterinary professionals.

Associate Degree ProgramsThe Argosy University/Twin Cities College of Health Sciences offers associate degree programs in dental hygiene, diagnostic medical sonography, histotechnology, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, radiation therapy, radiologic technology, and veterinary technology. Typically, associate degree programs are completed in one to two years. These programs follow a semester calendar.

Financial Aid

A wide range of financial aid options is available to students who qualify. Argosy University/Twin Cities offers access to federal aid programs, work-study, and merit-based awards. As a first step, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which may be done electronically at http://fafsa.ed.gov or at the campus. To receive consideration for the maximum amount of aid and ensure timely receipt of funds, it is best to submit the application promptly. Faculty

The most outstanding aspect of the institution is the dedication of the faculty members and their ability to cultivate a supportive learning environment. From them, students learn to integrate formal knowledge with professional practice. Argosy University/Twin Cities faculty members believe that their primary roles are those of mentor, teacher, and co-learner. They are dedicated to training students to assume leadership roles within various health science fields. Students have access to faculty members and counseling with regard to course and program matters. In addition, the Student Services Office personnel advise students in a number of areas.

Student Activities

Argosy University/Twin Cities offers a number of activities designed to involve students in experiences not normally available through academic courses. A student organization group meets with faculty and administration members regularly to discuss issues pertinent to the campus. In addition, most faculty committees include a student representative.

Facilities and Resources

Argosy University libraries provide such curriculum support and educational resources as current text materials, diagnostic training documents, reference materials and databases, journals and dissertations, and major and current titles in program areas. The University provides an online public-access catalog encompassing library resources throughout the Argosy University system. Students have full remote access to their campus librarys database, enabling them to study and conduct research at home. The available academic databases offer dissertation abstracts, academic journals, and professional periodicals. All library computers are Internet accessible. Software applications include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS, and various test-scoring programs. All electronic resources are Web based and therefore accessible from the library or home.

Location

The new Argosy University/Twin Cities campus is in a convenient location, with easy freeway access and within 10 miles of the airport and the Mall of America. Located in a very pleasant suburban area that has many shops, restaurants, and housing nearby, the new campus is in a parklike setting next to the new Eagan Community Center, which offers numerous amenities, including walking paths, a fitness center, meeting rooms, and an outdoor amphitheater.

The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul have been rated as one of the most livable metropolitan areas in the country. With a population of 2.5 million, the area offers an abundance of recreational opportunities. Year-round outdoor activities, nationally acclaimed theater and arts, music venues, and professional sports teams attract and inspire residents and visitors alike.

Admission Requirements

Students who have successfully completed a program of secondary education or the equivalent (GED) are eligible for admission to the health sciences programs. Entrance requirements include either an ACT composite score of 18 or above, a combined math and verbal SAT score of 850 or above, or a passing score on the Argosy University entrance exam. In addition, a minimum TOEFL score of 173 (computer version) or 500 (paper version) is required for applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution in which English is the language of instruction. All applicants must include a completed application form, proof of high school graduation or successful completion of the GED test, official postsecondary transcripts, and SAT, ACT, or Argosy University exam scores. Additional materials are required prior to matriculation. Some programs have additional application requirements. An admissions representative can provide further detailed information.
