- The Master Sergeant David K. Thuma Scholarship is available to members of the U.S. Army Special Forces, Career Management Field (CMF) 18 who are students at Excelsior College. You must be a Command Sergeant Major (CMF 00Z) of the Special Forces who hold a secondary MOS in CMF 18. You must also have been in the Special Forces for at least three years and demonstrate financial need. A recommendation from your immediate supervisor and unit commander in grade O-5 or above is required to be considered for this award.
