The Pop Keeney Athletic Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors residing in the Northshore School District. You must excel at football and demonstrate skill, teamwork, leadership, humility, love of sports and academic ability to be considered for this award.

Discover Student Loans Scholarship

Available to: High School Seniors through College Seniors
Award Amount: $2,500

The Discover Student Loans Scholarship is available to high school seniors and students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. You must be 16 years of age or older to qualify for this award. Winners will be selected at random.

Dr. Aura- Lee A. and James Hobbs Pittenger American History Scholarship

Available to: High School Seniors through College Freshmen
Award Amount: $2,000

The Dr. Aura- Lee A. and James Hobbs Pittenger American History Scholarship is open to high school seniors who will have a concentrated study of a minimum of 24 credit hours in American history and American government. You must obtain a letter of sponsorship from your local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter to be considered for this award. Your state scholarship chairman will assist in locating the chapter nearest you. You must write to the NSDAR by postal mail (address is listed on the sponsor’s site) to obtain this information.

Directing Change Student Film Contest

The Directing Change Student Film Contest is open to students between the ages of 14 and 25. You must submit a film of no more than 60 seconds related to mental health and/or suicide prevention in order to be considered for this award.

The “Sleep Recharges You” Video Contest is open to high school students. To enter, you must submit a 30 – second to two – minute video motivating teens to prioritize the importance of sleep in their lives.

NPG 2017 Photography Scholarship Contest

Available to: High School Seniors through College Juniors
Award Amount: $1,500

The NPG 2017 Photography Scholarship Contest is open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores and juniors. You must submit an original photo with a 40 to 50 word description, which shows how the environment of the U.S. is being damaged by population growth. You must also be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this award.

The AFSA High School Essay Contest is open to high school students. In order to apply, imagining that you are a U.S. Ambassador, you must submit a 1000 – to 1250 – word essay explaining what you as a diplomat would do, using the resources available to you as Ambassador, to improve the relations between the U.S. and your country of choice (Turkey, Kenya, Afghanistan, Iraq), and how the major foreign policy differences between that nation and the United States might best be handled in our national interest.

Live Deliberately Essay Contest

Available to: Ages 14-21
Award Amount: $250

The Live Deliberately Essay Contest is open to all students aged 14 – 21. You must submit an essay of no more than 750 words based on the prompts listed on the sponsor’s website. This year’s prompts will ask you to consider the different meanings of trees, cultivation and soil as Thoreau uses them in the defined passages.

Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest

The Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest is open to high school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students. You must submit an essay of between 800 and 1600 words on a topic related to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. The three topic choices are listed on the sponsor’s website and essays will be judged on style and content.

The Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity is available to high school juniors and seniors, and entering and current college freshmen. You must be a resident of, or be planning to attend school in Connecticut or the New York City metropolitan area. To be eligible, you must demonstrate how you have solved artistic, scientific, or technical problems in new or unusual ways; how you have come up with distinctive solutions to problems faced by your school, community, or family; or how you have developed an innovative way to save the environment or improve people’s health.

CKSF Scholarship Competition

The CKSF Scholarships are available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in the U.S. You must register to participate in scholarship quizzes that test your knowledge of topics ranging from general “common knowledge” to specific academic subjects, books, websites, and even movies. You will be scored based on a combination of time and accuracy. Students with the highest scores at the end of each competition win.

JumpStart Summer Program

The JumpStart Summer Program is available to high school graduates who are entering a four-year college or university.

To be eligible, you must be pursuing a career in healthcare, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be at least 18 years of age. Students will be paid at the rate of nine dollars per hour during this eight – week program.
