Summertime Scholarships to Apply for Now

Summer is a time to relax, but it’s also a great time to uncover some financial aid, if you know where to look. FastWeb has highlighted a few summer-themed scholarships that are open now (or will be soon) that you can work on while taking breaks from your beach reading.
You may not be eligible for all scholarships. FastWeb recommends that you check the scholarship sponsor Web sites for availability and eligibility.
International Association of Ice Cream Vendors (IAICV) Scholarship Program
Would you like one scoop of free money for college or two? IAICV is looking for students who have worked in the ice cream industry during the award year and are interested in business and entrepreneurship.

American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA) Scholarships

Art Institutes Best Teen Chef Competition
A delectable spread says summer is here, but who’s going to cook? What about you? The Art Institutes are sponsoring a competition for the best teen chef in the country and the grand prize is a full-tuition scholarship at an AI school. Click the link below for information on the 2008 competition.

Field Museum High School Internships
If you find your attention drawn to the birds in the air, the flowers in your garden or the sand at the beach, you may be interested in an internship at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. The application will require a statement of internship goals, a resume and references. Also, museum curators must be contacted for additional information well before the deadline date. The summer would be a great time to get a jump on this opportunity. If you receive the internship, it would be for summer 2008.

Hi I'm Matthew Knight, my apt# is 107. Just thought that would be important. my SAT scores I'm sure were between 1500 and 1600, I've never gotten my test results, I am not lying! I'm a very diligent and intelligent person. My plan is to go to El Camino College, to major in Liberal Arts. I'm going back to school to obtain a degree in psychology. I'm disappointed that I'm not able to pay for college myself. I need help to reach my goals. I'd like to get this degree to help those who are lost in a world of people who don't seem to care. I've sat on this calling too long and I'm not about to let money stop me from getting this education. If you know of any scholarships that I can apply for, please feel free to help me help others.

I live in Florida and I am focused on getting the Bright Futures Scholarship, but I am nervous that I may not get it. I have everything that is needed to get the scholarship, the only thing that is missing is my volunteer hours, but I am working on them this summer. If the Bright Futures Scholarship doesn't work out, what should I aim for next?

Hello. I am 19 years old, African American/ Caucasian Female. I am living in Austin and attending St. Edward's University. I am looking for scholarships to apply for so that I can attend Semester at Sea and experience the diverse culture and people from around the world. I want to broaden my understanding of human kind and see what areas of the world need social workers. I am very much a people person and want to go into service work when I graduate, helping out in the clinics in Uganda and Madagascar. Before I graduate, I want to travel and see how people from different parts of the worlds life style compares to my own. I believe Semester At Sea is the perfect way to gain this knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, the cost of the program is way out of my budget. So I am saving for the trip a year in advance. If you know of any scholarships I could apply for it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. =)
