December is one of greatest months for volunteering; not only because you have time off from school but because you feel the overwhelming need to give to others. It’s the ideal time to start or contribute to a coat drive, serve at a soup kitchen or give gifts to a family that would otherwise have a sparse holiday celebration.
While you’re volunteering this holiday season, you could be getting something out of your time as well. There are many scholarship providers who seek to reward students who spend their time giving back to their community with scholarships to help pay for school.
Check out eight scholarships for students who volunteer, and start giving back to your community today!
Social networking use among people 50+ has more than doubled from 2009 to 2011. DoSomething.org’s latest campaign is all about teaching seniors how to use technology. Join the campaign and bring your grandparent into the digital age by showing them how to use Facebook, Skype, and Gmail. Everyone who takes action in the campaign and tells us about it will be entered to win a $500 scholarship.
The goal of DoSomething.org Scholarships is to recognize everyday teens who are taking action and making a difference in their community—and catapult them into lifelong civic leaders. Most scholarship programs focus on the best students, or the all-star athletes, we recognize and reward the teens who are social action leaders in their community.
