Scholarships for Hispanic and Latino Students

Hispanic Scholarships with Geographic Restrictions
The following awards have a geographic restriction as the primary criterion.
BECA Foundation (San Diego, California)
The BECA Foundation sponsors several scholarships for Hispanic
students who attend a high school or college in San Diego county,
California. Award amounts vary from $500 to $2,000. The deadline is in
early March.
Chicana/Lantina Foundation (Northern California)
The Chicana/Latina Foundation sponsors thirty $1,500 scholarship a
year for Chicana/Latina women. To qualify women must reside in a
northern California county and be attending an accredited college or
graduate school in northern California. Applicants must have
demonstrated leadership and civic/community involvement. Applicants
must also have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and have completed
at least one semester/quarter as a full-time college student.
Recipients of the scholarship must agree to volunteer a minimum of 10
hours in support of the Chicana/Latina Foundation. The deadline is in
mid-March.
Connecticut Association of Latinos in Higher Education (CALAHE) (Connecticut)
CALAHE provides $1,000 scholarships to Latino high school seniors and
college undergraduate students from Connecticut. (Applicants must have
resided in Connecticut for the past 12 months.)
US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Candidates must
demonstrate financial need and have a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The deadline is April 15.
Esperanza Scholarship (Ohio)
The Esperanza Scholarship program provides more than 40 scholarships a
year to Hispanic high school seniors and current college students
residing in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties in Ohio. Award amounts vary
from $500 to $1,000. Applicants must have a 2.75 or higher GPA on a
4.0 scale. The deadline is in mid-March.
Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber (Oregon, Washington)
The Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber provides scholarships for Hispanic
students who reside in Oregon or in Clark county, Washington.
Applicants must have at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicants
are evaluated based on academic excellence, extracurricular
activities, community involvement and a written essay.
Hispanic Scholarship Consortium (HSC)
The Hispanic Scholarship Consortium provides renewable $2,000 and
$5,000 scholarships to Hispanic high school seniors, undergraduate and
graduate students who reside in Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Lee,
Travis or Williamson counties in Texas. The scholarships are
available for full-time enrollment at 2-year and 4-year
colleges. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents.
Applicants must have at least a 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Recipients
must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to retain the award. The deadline is
April 15.
Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund (Florida)
The Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund provides renewable
$2,000 scholarships to Hispanic students enrolled at Florida public
and eligible private colleges. There is a preference for graduating
high school seniors seeking funding for undergraduate school, but
graduate students may also apply, subject to the availability of
funds. The number of awards depends on private contributions matched
by the Florida Department of Education. Applicants must be US
citizens or eligible noncitizens with a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0
scale. The application deadline is April 1. Applicants must also
submit the FAFSA by May 15.
Lambda Theta Nu Sorority
The Lambda Theta Nu Sorority sponsors the Latina Scholarship Award for
female graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage who will
enroll in a 4-year college. The scholarship is awarded by sorority
chapters to local area students. The deadline is May 1.
Latina Leadership Network of the California Community Colleges (LLN) (California)
The Latina Leadership Network awards ten $500 scholarships to Latina
students attending California community colleges. Applicants must have
a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale. The deadline is January 31.

I get tired quick because of my condition and can only focus on one thing, so I prefer school then work because with both I get tired.
