FIRE’s Freedom in America Essay Contest
Over the past two weeks, FastWeb has given you a lot of advice on how to win an essay contest. Now you can put our tips to practice through the FIRE Freedom in America Essay Contest and win $5,000 in scholarship money!
Applicants are required to watch two short videos on FIRE’s website and then write a 700-1200 word essay on why free speech and First Amendment rights are crucial to higher education.

I love these guys; one of the few non-partisan groups truly dedicated to academic freedom of speech from ALL parties. (Like they say--the true purpose of "free speech" is to permit the opinions of those you hate or dislike as much as those you like.) I am SO doing this essay. The only thing that makes me sad is the 1200 word limit :P
