Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest $30,000

“Does America Still Have Heroes?” If you’ve got an answer to that question, it could win you $30,000 in scholarship money.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is asking high school students all across the country to submit an audio tape of their answer on heroes in America. An applicant from each state will be selected for an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. where they will compete for the grand prize of a $30,000 scholarship.
Amount: $30,000
Deadline: November 1, 2009
Age: High school grades 9 – 12 through the 2009-2010 school year.

I agree and disagree with Michael0153 yes there could be more scholarships for older students. But I 18 and just graduated from HS have been searching for scholarships and I have found plenty for older students. just because a HS students doesn't have the wisdom of life and real world behind them mean that you are any better than them. You don't know any of the students going for this scholarship and most probably like me are coming from a harsh background and this is the only way they can pay for college. How am I an 18 year old just getting out of HS less than you? I think possibly you just haven't looked in the right places.

where ever i look i see heroes and i am proud to see that they would do a grant contest on the subject i new alot of soilders that gave all they could to make life better for us and a lot of parents too and thats what makes a true hero.
