Before They Were Prez: Job Tips from Our Founding Fathers

Throughout his life, Thomas Jefferson was known as a man of many talents and intellectual interests. As a well-known lawyer before entering the political realm, many a man had read his pieces and knew of his talents with ink and quill. His writing skills did not go unnoticed because as the American Revolutionary War broke out, he was selected to write a routine resolution. The document would come to be known as the Declaration of Independence and Jefferson as it’s principal author.

Moral of the story: Do what you’re good at and people will notice. At work, look for opportunities beyond your daily tasks that will highlight your natural skills. If you’re looking for a job, find some part-time projects whose results you can add to supplement your resume. Whatever your strengths, make them known!
