Educational institutions, foundations and many other organizations celebrate African American students with scholarship opportunities - find one you qualify for today!
In honor of Black History Month, we've put together a list of scholarships to celebrate. Education is a great way to honor any culture and its contributions and accomplishments! African American students play an important role in higher education, and scholarships are out there to help ensure no one misses out on their college dream. From high school juniors to college grad students, many universities across the country offer financial aid opportunities for Black students. Institutional scholarships are also available for Black students attending HBCUs. Additionally, minority students have access to scholarships funded by influential organizations such as the Jackie Robinson Foundation, Rosa L. Parks Scholarship Foundation, Thurgood Marshall College Fund and many more.

Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Competition

The Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Competition is available to Texas high school students. To be considered, you must submit a 1500 - to 2500 - word essay on the following topic: "African Americans in Texas: Past and Present." Deadline: 2/14/24 Award Amount: Varies

NABA Scholarship Program

The NABA Scholarship Program is available to full - time Black / African - American students. You must be an active student member of NABA and be majoring in accounting, finance, or business to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 2/23/24 Award Amount: $1,000 - $10,000

Anna V. Waters Scholarship

The Anna V. Waters Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors. You must have a GPA between 2.0 and 2.9 and demonstrate good character, commitment to your community, and the potential to do well in college to be considered for this award. Deadline: 3/1/24 Award Amount: $500 - $2,000

Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship

The Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship is available to high school seniors of African descent who are planning to attend a four - year college / university. You must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or a select business program; have a minimum GPA of 3.0; and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 3/13/24 Award Amount: $2,500 - $5,000

Sachs Foundation Scholarship

The Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors residing in Colorado. You must be planning to enroll full - time in an undergraduate degree program in the fall to be eligible for this award. Selection is based on academic merit, two letters of recommendation, personal statement, and any additional educational, artistic, or professional files that are meaningful to you. Deadline: 3/15/24 Award Amount: $10,000 - $12,500

Ezekiel Taylor Scholarship

The Ezekiel Taylor Scholarship is available to African - American male high school seniors who have been impacted by Chicago's gun violence. You must be a resident of Cook County and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 3/15/24 Award Amount: Varies

UNCF General Scholarship

The UNCF General Scholarship is available to full - time undergraduate and graduate students attending a UNCF member college or university. You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 3/28/24 Award Amount: Varies

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship

The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship is available to full - time, African - American / Black high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate involvement in community service activities to qualify for this award. Deadline: 3/31/24 Award Amount: $2,500 - $20,000

IABA Foundation Scholarship

The IABA Foundation Scholarship is available to Black undergraduate and graduate students. You must be pursuing a career in actuarial science and have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 3/31/24 Award Amount: $1,500 - $5,000

Mae and Mary Scholarship

The Mae and Mary Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors. You must be pursuing a career in the health care profession to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 3/31/24 Award Amount: Varies

LEAD Scholarship

The LEAD Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors. You must have at least a B average and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 4/15/24 Award Amount: $5,000

Charles Shelton Foundation Veterinary Scholarship

The Charles Shelton Foundation Veterinary Scholarship is available to Black / African - American high school seniors and current and returning college students. You must be planning to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be a legal U.S. resident to be eligible for this award. An essay is also required. Deadline: 4/15/24 Award Amount: $2,000

Achievers in Technology Program

The Achievers in Technology Program is open to entering college freshmen of African descent. You must be pursuing a career in tech and demonstrate financial need to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 4/27/24 Award Amount: $500

Brittany K. Booker Foundation Scholarship

The Brittany K. Booker Foundation Scholarship is available to African - American female high school seniors. You must be a resident of Columbia, SC or Baltimore, MD to be eligible for this award. Deadline: 4/30/24 Award Amount: $1,000

Carrington-Philbert Scholarship

The Carrington-Philbert Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors who are planning to attend a two - or four - year college / university. Students residing in Trinidad and Tobago and attending University of the West Indies are also eligible to apply. Deadline: 5/1/24 Award Amount: $2,500

Bud Billiken Parade Scholarship

The Bud Billiken Parade Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores between the ages of 17 and 21. You must be a resident of Illinois and have a minimum 2.6 GPA to be eligible for this award. You must also submit a one - to three - minute video answering the following questions: "How has your education prepared you for this rapidly changing world? Have your educational goals changed in any way? If so, how will those changes positively impact you, your family, and your community as a whole?" Deadline: 6/21/24

Morgan Stanley HBCU Scholars Program

The Morgan Stanley HBCU Scholars Program is open to students attending Howard University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Eligible students will be invited to apply through their schools. Deadline: Varies Award Amount: Full-Tuition

Nearest Green Legacy Scholarship

The Nearest Green Legacy Scholarship is available to first - time college students. You must be a direct descendant of Nathan "Nearest" Green and have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award. Deadline: Varies Award Amount: Full-Tuition

Marshall-Motley Scholars Program

The Marshall-Motley Scholars Program is available to African - American first - year law students. You must be accepted into an ABA - approved law school in the U.S. and be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this award. After completion of a two - year postgraduate fellowship, recipients of this award must commit to eight years of service as a civil rights lawyer in the South. Deadline: This scholarship has expired. Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship

The Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship is available to African - American high school seniors. You must be involved in school and community activities and have a minimum 2.75 GPA to be eligible for this award. A 275 - to 300 - word essay is also required. Pathways to the C-Suite Internship Program

The Pathways to the C-Suite Internship Program is available to rising college seniors and recent graduates. Interns will be partnered with some of the nation's top executives in the private sector to experience how public policy is influenced and developed at every level. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required. CBCF Congressional Summer Internship Program

The CBCF Congressional Summer Internship Program is available to African - American undergraduate students. During this nine - week program, interns will gain practical and meaningful work experience on Capitol Hill and obtain firsthand experience working in offices to assist in the process of effectively running a Congressional office and supporting the policymaking process. Deadline: 3/29/24

INROADS Internship Program

The INROADS Internship Program matches underrepresented minority students with internship opportunities with more than 60 major corporations, including Fortune 500 companies. Students who have career interests in Business, Engineering, Computers and Information Sciences, Retail Store Management, Sales, Health, or Marketing are encouraged to apply. You must be either a graduating high school senior who has been admitted to an accredited college or university or a college freshman or sophomore to be eligible for these internships. High school students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, college students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. All applicants must be permanent residents of the United States. Deadline: Varies
